Ashes 2017: Australia aim to go 1-0 up at Gabba

Brisbane [Australia], Nov 26 (ANI): As David Warner and Cameron Bancroft lift bats for Australia in the second innings on Day 4, England aim to bowl reasonably well to prevent the Kangaroos from a victory in the first Ashes Test at the Gabba.

Australia were chasing 170 as their fast bowling ripped through England on the fourth day, rolling the visitors for 195 in their second innings.

Batting in the second innings, England had chances to post a target in excess of 200, but missed their opportunities.

They opened the day with Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali and made 86 runs, but lost the wickets of Mark Stoneman (27), Dawid Malan (4) and Skipper Joe Root for 51.

Skipper Joe Root was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood (3-46), one ball after he reached a fifty, while Ali walked off with 40 as he was stumped by Nathan Lyon.

CR Woakes returned to the pavilion for cheap 17, while Bairstow was batting well until arrival of Mitchell Starc's bouncer which dismissed him for 42.

At the time of reporting, Australia had resumed their second innings and were batting at 18 for no loss. (ANI)
