Abu Dhabi track doesn't suit F1 cars, believes Hamilton

Johannesburg [South Africa], Nov 28 (ANI): Four-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has admitted that though The Yas Marina Circuit was a `great track`, it did not suit Formula One cars, after the Mercedes driver failed to overtake Valtteri Bottas in last weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Briton spent much of his time in the Grand Prix chasing his Mercedes team-mate Bottas around the 21-corner track. He eventually finished at the second spot to hand victory to Bottas in the season's final race.

However, it seems that Hamilton is not happy with the result and is upset with his failure to end the season on high.

"You do get a bit of a tow down the straights but once you get to the last sector. It's a great, great track but unfortunately it doesn't suit the cars very well. In the last sector you just can't follow," Sport24 quoted Hamilton, as saying.

Hamilton could be seen struggling throughout the race in Abu Dhabi as every time he tried to close up to within a second of Bottas' rear wing, he lost ground as he was unable to follow too close or attack.

Explaining the same, Hamilton said, "It's one of the worst tracks in the sense that you need 1.4s advantage to pass the car in front. And we've got the same car, we've a couple of tenths between us so I was never going to overtake unless he made a big mistake and went off, which he didn't."

Earlier, Hamilton became a four-time world champion with a ninth-place finish at the Mexican Grand Prix, the race which was won by the Red Bull's Verstappen. (ANI)
