1. India’s booster (or precaution dose in India) campaign lags behind many countries in the world, as fresh corona wave picks up.
2. Precaution dose to 18-59 years - 26,77,691 (26.77 lakh), as on June 6, 2022
3. 60+ Years, HCW, FLW - 3,39,85,214 (3.39 crore), as on June 6, 2022
4. India has administered a total of just 2.6% of covid booster dose.
5. Number of days since launch of Precaution dose (April 10 to June 5) – 57 days.
6. There should be a gap of six months between second covid vaccine and booster dose.
7. People have less fear of the disease now .Immunity wanes with time and especially those with comorbidities in any age group are vulnerable to more severe disease.
8. Precaution dose of Covid-19 vaccine will be helpful to boost immunity and is important to protect family and society against the pandemic.
9. During the omicron wave, vaccination with a booster reduced the chance of hospitalization and death by more than 90%.
10. India recorded a jump of 40% in covid cases in the last two days.
