RECORD: After 44 Years, History Repeats Itself In India-New Zealand Test

The first such instance came during the 1953 Test match between England and Australia at Lord’s cricket ground.

Before India-New Zealand match, the MCG Test between Australia and Pakistan in 1972-73 saw a similar record.

The record created during the India-New Zealand 1st Test has been achieved only twice in the history of cricket.

In the match so far, the second wicket has seen three 100-run partnerships.

Then, New Zealand’s Tom Latham and Kane Williamson raised a partnership of 124 runs in the second innings of the match.

In the third innings of the match, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara again added 133 runs to equal the 44-year-old record.

India’s Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara added 112 runs in the first innings.

The match saw history repeating itself after 44 years.

History repeats itself. The saying was proved right once again during the ongoing India-New Zealand Test at the Green Park Cricket Stadium in Kanpur.

The match in itself is of historic importance as it is India’s 500th Test.
