Pakistan star fails to clear YoYo test, in doubt for Asia Cup

Wasim recently played for the Jamaica Tallawahs, captained by Andre Russell in the Caribbean Premier League. He made seven appearances in which he picked up six wickets. Moreover, he was their most economical bowler with an economy rate of 6.74. His best figures of 2/17 came against Dwayne Bravo-led Trinbago Knight Riders.

PCB’s benchmark for clearing the YoYo test is a 17.4, which is higher than India’s benchmark of 16.1.

On Monday, 18 cricketers of the national team attended a fitness camp in Lahore out of which 17 passed the test, barring Wasim.

Just like BCCI, the PCB has also made the passing of YoYo test mandatory for all its cricketers in order to make it to the national side.

Wasim, therefore, has no option but to clear the YoYo test in his next and final attempt to find a place in the Asia Cup squad.

Pakistan Cricket Board are playing the waiting game with their limited overs domestic competition still going on.

At this crucial juncture, Pakistan suffered a big blow as their all-rounder Imad Wasim flunked the YoYo test, casting a doubt over his participation in the Asia Cup slated to begin from September 15.

Wasim failed to clear the test by a slender margin of 0.2 and will undergo another fitness test before the Asia Cup is announced.

With barely 10 days to go for the Asia Cup in UAE, all top teams – India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – have announced their squads, except Pakistan.
