Kohli the quickest to 9000 ODI runs

He was finally dismissed for 113 off Tim Southee while trying to clear the fence.

Kohli also became the sixth Indian to score 9000 ODI runs. He is now behind, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly MS Dhoni and Mohammed Azharuddin in the all time list.

That was not all, Kohli also became the highest run-scoring captain in a calendar year, bettering Ponting’s feat of 1424 runs in 2007.

Kohli now has 1455 runs in the current year with the Sri Lanka series still to go.

Kohli bettered the AB de Villiers’ record. The former South African captain had achieved the feat in 205 innings.

While destroying the New Zealand bowlers, he became the fastest to reach 9000 ODI runs. He did that in only 194 innings.
