The Islamic holy month of Ramadan began in several countries around the world with first Taraweeh prayer on Wednesday night. In India, Muslims will observe the month from Friday.

Taraweeh being offered at Masjid al-Haram or the Grand Mosque of Mecca on the first night of Ramadan. After the moon was not sighted on Tuesday night, the holy month started in Saudi Arabia and many other countries on Wednesday.

For the first time ever, London's famous Coventry Street is decorated with Ramadan ornaments, marking the start of the muslims' holy month in UK. Ramadan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar in which Muslims observe dawn-to-dusk fast.
