Today was the 200-km march's fifth day. Farmers walking from Nashik to Mumbai are defying all barriers to continue their agitation for relief to onion producers and a number of other demands. They have cracked soles, aching feet, and many friends who have been hospitalised, NDTV reported.

The CPM organised the march, and in addition to farmers, many unorganised sector employees, tribal community members, and others participated.

The farmers have a long list of requests, one of which is an urgent financial assistance of 600 rupees per quintal for onion producers who have been severely impacted by a sharp decline in prices.

Several of the farmers are members of indigenous tribes that are fighting for land rights. Demands include a 12-hour supply of continuous power and a forgiveness of agricultural loans.

The Maharashtra administration has made contact with farmers. Today, they will meet with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputy Devendra Fadnavis, and other top ministers.

Former legislator Gavit stated that the ministers have invited the farmers and tribals delegation to meet with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday.
