Exactly a year ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 22, 2020 announced a 14-hour-long Janata Curfew urging citizens to stay indoors between 7 am to 9 am to break the chain of the coronavirus infection. Today, marking the first anniversary of the 'Janata Curfew', we revisit that incidents that came amid the Corona-induced lockdown, and cherish the unity put forward by the citizens during the tough times.

The citizens across the country clapped their hands and rang bells at 5 pm on the call of PM Modi to thank the medical fraternity and professionals of other essential services for their selfless services during the pandemic.

People stood on their doorways, balconies or windows, and clapped their hands and banged vessels.

Not just 'Taali and Thali', people also took out their shankhs in solidarity.

In view of the 'Janata curfew', the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) too kept its services closed as a precautionary measure. Not only the Metro, but the Indian Railways too cancelled hundreds of scheduled trains as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the country. (Image: PTI)
