Sonam Kapoor Gives A Glimpse Of Her Maximalist Mumbai Home. See Pics

Sonam Kapoor has opened the doors to her stunning Mumbai residence, revealing a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

Sonam Kapoor gave a tour of her Mumbai house to Architectural Digest.

Known for her keen eye for fashion and design, the actress personally oversaw the interiors of her home, which she shares with her husband, Anand Ahuja, and their son, Vayu.

In a recent conversation with Architectural Digest, Sonam shared that her home is filled with treasures she has collected over the years while filming in remote corners of India.

Sonam told AD, "This house, which I share with my husband Anand and our baby son Vayu, marks a new chapter in my life—as a woman, a collector, and a mother. I had always dreamed of having a space where I could display the pieces I've gathered during my travels to distant parts of India."

Sonam also revealed the inspiration behind her home's unique style

" "If I fall in love with something, nothing can stop me from bringing it home. Anand encouraged the idea of us moving closer to family, especially with a baby on the way."

"Originally, I bought this modern apartment as an investment, and at first, it felt a bit impersonal. But as I spent more time here, I was drawn to the double-height ceilings and the expansive space. I began to relish the idea of transforming this blank canvas into something spectacular."

In a joint Instagram post with Architectural Digest, Sonam offered a glimpse into her beautifully decorated living room and bedroom.

She shared, "Welcome to my living room, where I love to entertain and spend time with friends. This is one of my favorite rooms I've ever lived in because it brings all my dreams to life. I went for an Indian maximalist style with lots of layers to give this modern building a sense of nostalgia and connection to my roots. Every wall here is hand-painted, adding a personal touch."

Sonam credited her aunt, interior designer Kavita Singh, and Jaipur-based fresco artist Vikas Soni for the intricate designs and hand-painted walls that define her home.

Reflecting on the design process, she told Architectural Digest , "When we were planning this house, I remember sending my aunt an old issue of Architectural Digest featuring Cher's bedroom, where she had a beautiful old Jharokha as her headboard. We used that as the focal point for our bedroom design, and the rest of the jharokha cleverly hides our TV, which I prefer not to have on display." (All image: Instagram/@archdigestindia)
