Rahul Bajaj, the chairman emeritus of Bajaj Group and champion of the Indian Auto industry, died at age 83 in February this year. Son of Jamnalal Bajaj, he took over Bajaj Auto in 1968 and transformed it into a conglomerate comprising 40 firms which includes — Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, and Bajaj Holdings and Investment — boasts a combined market capitalization of over Rs 8.4 lakh crore. Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry, the India-Irish Business tycoon who led the engineering and construction giant Shapoorji Pallonji Group, died in June 2022 at age 93. Businessman and Former Chairman of Tata Group Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident at the age of 54 in September this year. Mistry was MD of construction giant Shapoorji Pallonji before being appointed as chairman of Tata Sons in 2012. Dalal Street Mogul Rakesh Jhunjhunwala died on August 14, 2022, in Mumbai at the age of 62. He was often called India’s Warren Buffet. He was a trader and also a chartered accountant. He was the chairman of Hungama Media and Aptech. He was on the board of directors of firms such as - Viceroy Hotels, Concord Biotech, Provogue India, and Geojit Financial Services. India's Steel Man, Jamshed J Irani, died at the age of 86 in October, 2022. He joined Tata Steel (then Tata Iron and Steel Company) in 1968. He stayed on for the next 33 years, steering the company into one of the lowest-cost steel producers in the world. He also served on the boards of various Tata group companies and others. Toyota Kirloskar Motor vice-chairman Vikram Kirloskar died in November at the age of 64. The industrialist was the fourth-generation member of the Kirloskar Group, which was founded in 1888. He had played a prominent role in bringing Japan's Toyota Motor to India. Toyota's manufacturing plant near Bengaluru is one of the largest automotive facilities in India. Founder and chairman of popular beverage brand Rasna Arij Pirojshaw Khambata died at the age of 85 in November this year. Arij Pirojshaw Khambata turned a modest business started by his father Firoza Khambata into the world’s largest concentrate manufacturer by Ariz, with a presence in more than 60 countries. Tulsi Tanti, chairman and managing director of Suzlon Energy, died in October, 2022, at age 64. Tanti was widely considered the pioneer of the wind energy revolution in India. N Sankar, chairman of the Sanmar Group, died at the age of 76 in April 2022. He led a Chennai-based $1 billion conglomerate operating in the areas of chemicals, shipping, metals, and engineering. Popularly known as Atlas Ramachandran, Dr MM Ramachandran died at the age of 80 in October this year in Dubai. The film producer and businessman started his gold jewellery business in 1981. Atlas Jewellery group’s turnover during the year ending 2014 was $1 billion.
