Priyanka Gandhi Carries Bag With 'Palestine' Written On It To Parliament
Gandhi earlier slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over what she had said were the Israel government's "genocidal actions" in Gaza, as she accused him and his government of "barbarism".
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra carried a bag to Parliament that had "Palestine" written on it and had Palestinian emblems, including a watermelon -- seen as a symbol of Palestinian solidarity. Vadra has been raising her voice against Israel's actions in Gaza and expressing solidarity with Palestinians.
Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, Charge d'affaires of the Palestine Embassy in New Delhi, had last week called on Gandhi to congratulate the Congress leader on her recent election victory from Kerala's Wayanad.

While speaking In Parliament, Gandhi first paid tributes to soldiers on Vijay Diwad on Monday. "The first issue I want to discuss is that this government should raise its voice against the atrocities committed against the Hindu and Christian minorities in Bangladesh, it should hold talks with them and take their support. The second issue is that today, a picture has been taken down from the headquarters of the Army in which the Pakistani Army is surrendering in front of the Indian Army," she said.

"Whatever was happening in Bangladesh, no one was listening to the voice of the people of Bangladesh, our Bengali brothers and sisters. Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister at that time, I want to salute her," she added.
