'Not Alien Invasion', Mysterious Pink Sky Over Australian Town Due To Cannabis Farm

Even before the actual reason behind the mysterious hue could be discovered, netizens took to the social media to share photos of the sky.

New Delhi: The residents of the sleepy town of Mildura in northern Victoria, Australia, were baffled after the evening sky on Wednesday was filled with a mysterious pink glow. The unusual sight was attributed to several bizarre explanations, alien invasion being one of them, until it was later found that it was coming from a nearby cannabis farm owned by the pharmaceutical company Cann Group.

Confirming the incident on Twitter, the company wrote, “Locals were treated to a bit of a light show last night while we were testing one of the new cultivation zones at our facility. We can confidently say this was not a solar flare or an interdimensional portal.”

Notably, cannabis plants require a wide spectrum of light in order to support their growth. For example, red light is often used in the flowering stage to support the cannabis plants to grow tall and to help promote budding.

However, even before the actual reason behind the mysterious hue could be discovered, netizens took to the social media to share photos of the sky, cracking jokes and attributing the incident to aliens or referring to paranormal drama series Stranger Things.

Check out the series of reactions on Twitter.
