Alcohol-Addicted Monkey Is A Menace For Liquor Shops In Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli
Scared by the Monkey, several customers have stopped going to the shops to avoid getting attacked.
A monkey in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli district is becoming a nuisance for liquor vendors. The primate apparently having an addiction for alcohol steals liquor from shops. The monkey has also been stealing bottles of alcohol from people, reported news agency IANS.
A video captured and shared on social media, shows the monkey drinking beer out of a can while an amused group of people watch on. In the manner in which it sits calmly and guzzles the beer shows it is not his first attempt at it.
A liquor shopkeeper operating in the district is unhappy with the monkey creating nuisance and has claimed that the primate resorts to biting if chased.
Scared by the Monkey, several customers have stopped going to the shops to avoid getting attacked.
After receiving complaints from shopkeepers and customers, District Excise Officer Rajendra Pratap Singh said efforts are being made to catch this monkey with the help of the Forest Department, reported IANS.
A similar case had been reported from the Nawabganj area on the Lucknow-Kanpur road where a monkey was a 'permanent customer' at a liquor vend.
The monkey relished chilled beer and often, a customer would buy a bottle of beer for him.
Later, the monkey developed an enlarged liver due to which he died, reported ANI.
This is not the first place in Uttar Pradesh where monkeys have troubled people. The holy city of Mathura and Vrindavan have been facing the menace for a very long time.
Belongings of devotees like purses, cameras and spectacles are often snatched by the monkeys who only return them after they are given something to eat. However, not everyone is lucky as they may not like to return the snatched goods even after pampering them with something of their liking.
