Mizoram Govt Grants Consent To CBI For Probes, CM Says 'Govt Resolute In Eliminating Corruption'

Mizoram CM Lalduhoma said that his government is resolute in eliminating corruption for the welfare of the citizens.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has said that the state government has granted consent for a CBI investigation of offences in Mizoram. Lalduhoma also said that his government is resolute in eliminating corruption for the welfare of the citizens.

"Committed to transparency and accountability, #Mizoram grants consent for a #CBI investigation. Our government is resolute in eliminating corruption for the welfare of our citizens. #MizoramAgainstCorruption," Lalduhoma said in a post on X.

This came after the Mizoram government published a gazette notification on Thursday allowing CBI investigation of offences in the state under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1948.

On December 22, Lalduhoma graced the function of the 69th batch recruit constable and the 4th batch head constable (operator) passing out a parade held at Police Training School, Thenzawl.

During the function, the Mizoram CM informed the newly graduated constables about how the state government is trying hard to stop all illegal movements of dry areca nuts, drugs and other smuggling items within the state and to safeguard the community from any other illicit trafficking, as reported by news agency ANI.

The ZPM chief also informed the policemen that they were the important force to execute this task and that the safety of the people depended heavily on the efficiency of the police forces.

Lalduhoma became the new chief minister of Mizoram after a stunning poll victory in the recently concluded assembly elections. The Zoram People's Movement won 27 of the 40 assembly constituencies while ex-CM Zoramthanga's Mizo National Front (MNF) managed only 10. In the 2018 elections, ZPM had won 8 seats while MNF had pulled 26.
