Oppn Leaders Demand President's Rule, CM's Sacking As Viral Video Of Manipur Women Triggers Backlash
Leaders from across the nation have expressed their sorrow over the viral video of Manipur women and have urged the centre to take strict action into the matter.
The video of two Manipur women being paraded naked has triggered massive outrage with Opposition leaders demanding the President's Rule to be imposed in the state and the sacking of Chief Minister Biren Singh. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday urged the government to take strict action over the matter. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Women & Child Welfare Development Minister Smriti Irani and said that this will be the first issue to be raised at Parliament today.
AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi took a jibe at the Centre and said that the PM was compelled to react to the video because it has become viral now. He then said that genocide is going on there.

Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav said that one section of Manipur doesn't trust the CM hence peace can't be established. He then launched an attack on PM Modi and said that he gives good speeches but will not speak about what is happening in the country.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar termed the atrocities against the women as despicable. He urged the Home department along with PMO to immediately take necessary action to restore peace in Manipur.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi urged the PM to break his silence over the matter and answer the people by speaking on the Floor of the House. She then launched a scathing attack on Women & Child Welfare Development Minister Smriti Irani and said that the most incompetent minister of the country should resign.

Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan said that politics should not be done on this (Manipur viral video). She asked PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah what they are doing on the matter. She asked whether the BJP will ask its CM to resign or not.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Today we are raising the issue (of Manipur in Parliament). I have also given notice. We will see whether our Chairman (Rajya Sabha) will allow us to raise it or not. PM is silent on this. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that the PM should make a statement on Manipur for the restoration of peace and he should apologise to the people for his failures.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha said that the BJP government is not ready to accept that all is not well in Manipur. He targeted BJP and said that Manipur is burning and they (BJP) are holding a meeting in a five-star hotel.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal said that the incident happened 2.5 months ago but no arrest has been made so far. She said that she will write to the Manipur CM and PM Modi to end the violence in Manipur and take action against the accused and police officials.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh while talking to ANI after these reactions said, "We saw the video and I felt so bad, it's a crime against humanity. I immediately ordered the police to arrest the culprits and the state govt will try to ensure capital punishment for the accused."
