Watch: This Iranian teenage girl has been arrested for posting dance videos on Instagram

New Delhi: In a shocking news for the Instagrammers, a teenage Iranian girl got arrested for uploading dance videos on her Instagram account. The 18-year old gymnast known as Maedeh Hojabri who is apparently a passionate dancer, gained popularity among her peers by uploading her videos on Instagram. She had gained a good number of followers on the portal by showcasing her talent. She was arrested by Iranian police for breaking moral norms of Islam. AP reports that State TV broadcast a video on Friday where she had acknowledged breaking moral norms while insisting that it wasn’t really her attention.  As per reports she also appeared in many videos without the compulsory headscarf. Her account that had some 300 videos and 43,000 followers, was then deactivated. However other Instagram users shared her videos later.

Posting dance videos is a rapidly growing trend on Instagram with teenagers all over the world using apps like Musical.ly to post videos. As per reports, Iranian police have said they plan to shut down similar accounts on Instagram, and the judiciary is considering blocking access to the site. Iran has already blocked social sites like Facebook .
