Watch: Pakistan's newly-elected lawmaker 'thrashes' man on road, video goes viral
As per reports, Shah has extended apology to the man after he faced stern backlash over his act.
New Delhi: A newly elected PTI legislator of provincial assembly allegedly beat up a motorist on road in broad daylight.
A video showing Imran Ali Shah of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, thrashing a man who allegedly tried to cross his vehicle is circulating widely on social media platforms.
As per reports, Shah has now apologised to the man after he faced stern backlash over his act.
Shah, who was elected as a member of the Sindh Assembly, was issued a show-cause notice by PTI to explain the incident.
Shah is a doctor by profession who specialises in orthopedic surgery.
In the video Shah can be seen intercepting a car and beating up its driver, surrounded by his armed bodyguards near a stadium in Karachi.
The incident comes at a time when PTI Chief and PM-designate Imran Khan is rooting for elected representatives to travel without protocol. Shah’s action presented a contrasting behaviour against Imran’s campaign.
Shah however said that the video is half-truth. He explained that he had intercepted the man because he was harassing another elderly citizen driving a car.
The driver who was beaten by Shah said he was going to a hospital with his grandchildren when he got in way of the lawmaker's convoy and this angered him, PTI reported.
As per Pak media, Shah has apologised to the man. Shah also shared pictures with the man, on his social media account.
A video of the incident was uploaded on YouTube
