US Presidential Election 2020: Joe Biden Accepts Democratic Nomination, Promises Americans "Light Over Darkness"

US Presidential Candidate Joe Biden urged Americans to have faith that they could “overcome this season of darkness,” and assured he will make attempts to bridge the country’s political divisions in ways Trump had not.

Wilmington: As the world’s largest economy braces up for the US Presidential election, Democratic candidate Joe Biden finally on Thursday accepted the nomination to fight for the top post and vowed to heal a country battered by a deadly pandemic and an economic catastrophe by uniting all Americans. As the leader jumped into the fray, he went on to warn the nation that if President Donald Trump gets re-elected it will only lead to hatred and fear. Biden promoted the campaign as a "battle for the soul of this nation", but his message on Thursday night had a striking similarity to that of Harding's. “Here and now, I give you my word: if you entrust me with the presidency, I’ll draw on the best of us, not the worst,” Biden said in the speech after accepting the nomination. Delivering the speech before a row of flags in his home state of Delaware, Biden urged Americans to have faith that they could “overcome this season of darkness,” and assured he will make attempts to bridge the country’s political divisions in ways Trump had not, as per the news agency Reuters. The US political scene is buzzing with propaganda as the presidential elections are 75 days away.  Biden served as the 47th vice-president of the United States from 2009 to 2017 Biden, 77, nomination has come in an attempt to present less as a traditional partisan standard-bearer and instead someone who can steer the nation out of the economic crises and who is capable of restoring normalcy and calm to the US. He has been portrayed as a transitional figure who would take on some of the worst American crises — not just the Covid outbreak but also economic inequality, climate change and gun violence — before handing off power to another generation. Meanwhile, US President didn't leave the opportunity to criticise the nomination of Joe Biden just before the address to nation and said, "He spent the last half century in Washington selling out our country and ripping off our jobs and letting other countries steal our jobs." While Biden in his speech said, “Our current president has failed in his most basic duty to the nation: he has failed to protect us.” Several Democrats who challenged Biden for the nomination - U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Cory Booker; former U.S. Representative Beto O’Rourke; and entrepreneur Andrew Yang - praised Biden’s empathy and leadership in a taped conversation.
