US: 3 Dead, 2 Injured In University Of Virginia Shooting, Search On For Suspect
The University Of Virginia campus was advised to shelter in place following a shooting reported on Culbreth Road. The suspect has been identified by police as Christopher Darnell Jones, Junior.
New Delhi: A fresh shooting incident has been reported from Charlottesville, US wherein an assailant killed three people and injured two others at the University of Virginia’s main campus on Sunday.
The suspect is identified as a school student and remains at large, CNN reported citing a statement by university president Jim Ryan on Monday.
The campus was advised to shelter in place around 10:40 p.m. following a shooting reported on Culbreth Road, the University of Virginia Police Department informed in a tweet. The campus has been in lockdown as a search for the suspect is underway.
The suspect has been identified by police as Christopher Darnell Jones, Junior, and is believed to be armed and dangerous. "The UVA Police Department is looking for Christopher Darnell Jones regarding the shooting incident that occurred on the grounds of the University of Virginia," a tweet read.

He was described as wearing a burgundy jacket with blue jeans and red shoes, and may be driving a black SUV, CNN reported citing the police.
The report further mentioned authorities as informing that multiple police departments were actively searching for Jones on Monday, including the use of a Virginia State Police helicopter.
It was also informed that the suspect is listed on the university’s athletics website as a football player in 2018. It remains unclear whether he is still a student at UVA.
