UK PM Boris Johnson Claims Britain-EU Agreed On A Great New Deal For Brexit
"We’ve got a great new deal that takes back control — now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday so we can move on to other priorities like the cost of living, the NHS, violent crime and our environment #GetBrexitDone #TakeBackControl", Johsnon tweeted.
LONDON: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday claimed that UK-EU have agreed on a great new deal for Brexit. The major announcement comes as leaders gathered in Brussels for talks. "We’ve got a great new deal that takes back control — now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday so we can move on to other priorities like the cost of living, the NHS, violent crime and our environment #GetBrexitDone #TakeBackControl", Johsnon tweeted.
Britan and United Kingdom have been working on the legal text of a deal, but it will still require the approval of both the Parliaments. The task next for Johnson would be to get an approval in the British Parliament, particularly from Northern Ireland's Democratic Union Party. The Democratic Unionist Party has, however, cast doubt on its sign off, saying they still cannot support it. The Northern Irish party earlier released a statement saying they could not back proposals "as things stand", and -- after the Prime Minister's announcement -- said their statement "still stands", reported the BBC. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker contended that it was a "fair and balanced agreement" and has urged the Parliament to support the deal. We’ve got a great new deal that takes back control — now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday so we can move on to other priorities like the cost of living, the NHS, violent crime and our environment #GetBrexitDone #TakeBackControl
