US Presidential Polls: Trump-Biden Rematch Inches Closes As Both Win Party Primaries

Joe Biden and Donald Trump swept up more delegates in Tuesday’s primaries with their eyes glued on a rematch in the US presidential polls slated to be held in November. Previously, the parties of both the president and the former president won the primaries in Illinois, Arizona, Ohio, and Kansas. 

Trump however has another win to his name as he won the Republican primary in Florida, where Democrats are not holding a primary. Trump swept the Republican primary, winning all the 125 delegates. 

“Trump demonstrated absolute dominance in the result. Polling for the general election shows that his dominance in Florida will continue until November. Florida is Trump Country,”  PTI quoted Trump's senior adviser Brian Hughes saying.

Despite being pushed out of the race, the former South Carolina governor and presidential candidate Nikki Haley managed to capture a sizable fraction of votes from Republicans in Illinois, Ohio, and Florida, The Guardian reported.

Nikki Haley, who was Trump's last Republican challenger ended her presidential campaign after Super Tuesday. Additionally, Biden's challenger Democratic congressman Dean Phillips also dropped out of the race.

After clinching the presidential nominating contests, the candidates were focused on campaigning in swing states, where they must win in order to win the general election later in November this year, The Guradian reported.

Recently Biden visited Nevada and Arizona to shore up support of Latino voters who could play a crucial role in his re-election. The US president has been attacking Trump on issues including abortion and immigration while touting economic policies. Biden seeks to win the trust of wavering voters and wane enthusiasm among groups that supported him in 2020.

Trump on the other hand has been courting controversy on his campaign trail amid ongoing legal troubles. In an interview on Monday, he claimed that the ones voting for Democrats "hate their religion" and Israel. Another major part of his campaign across the country is the January 6 attack on the Capitol, which he has made a cornerstone of his campaign, the Guardian's report stated.
