Trapped for 9 days in a flooded cave, 12 boys and football coach found alive in Thailand

New Delhi: A Thai football team consisting of 12 boys and their coach who had been trapped in a flooded cave for nine days were finally found alive. The 13 members of a Thai youth football team had entered the Tham Luang network of caves on a team outing. However, they were stranded following a heavy and continuous downpour that flooded the cave and went missing for days. The Thai military is currently providing food and medical help to the boys who are stuck into the pitch-black and waterlogged Tham Luang network of caves. Rescuers found their bicycles, football boots, and backpack near the cave's opening. They spotted handprints and footprint, which further lead them to the spot where the kids were eventually found. As per the report, the rescuers are now prepared for a prolonged extraction operation, with several chambers still submerged after the much-needed food and medical supplies reached the kids on Tuesday. Now the focus has turned to how to get them out. A video footage of the moment when help finally reached the youngsters, showed the emaciated boys in baggy mud-slicked football jerseys, shielding their eyes from the divers' torches. The boys were discovered at about 10:00 pm yesterday by British divers some 400 metres from where they were believed to be stranded several kilometers inside the cave, as per the report. The harrowing task of getting the boys out is complicated by the fact that they are in a weak state and are not experienced divers. In the video, posted on the Thai Navy SEAL Facebook page, one of the boys shouts to the rescuers: "we are hungry.. shall we go outside?" In response, the British diver says: "Many, many people are coming... we are the first," in reference to the vast and complex rescue operation that has taken over the mountainside.
