Taliban Fire Shots To Disperse Anti-Pakistan Rally In Kabul

Taliban fired shots to disperse anti-Pakistan rally in Kabul as protestors raised slogans outside Pakistan embassy, said AFP journalists.

New Delhi:  The Taliban fired shots in the air on Tuesday to disperse dozens of people protesting in Kabul against Pakistan's involvement in Afghan affairs, AFP journalists reported from the spot of the incident.

Around 70 people, mostly women, rallied outside the Pakistani embassy protesting what they said was meddling by Islamabad.

This comes after Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed an upcoming meeting between Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief Lt General Faiz Hameed and Taliban senior leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, as reported by ANI.

However, later the Taliban said that it won’t allow Pakistan or any other nation to interfere with Afghanistan’s internal affairs, news agency PTI reported. Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid, while speaking to Afghan news agency Khaama, said the group will not allow any country to interfere in the nation’s internal affairs.

ISI chief Hameed was the first high-ranking foreign official to visit Afghanistan from Pakistan following the Taliban takeover last month.

On Monday, after the Taliban claimed to have taken control over the Panjshir valley by killing two important Resistance Front commanders-- Fahim Dashty, the spokesperson of Ahmad Massoud, who was leading a resistance movement to the Taliban, and  General Abdul Wudod Zara, nephew of Ahmad Shah Massoud, it was reported that Pakistan forces helped Taliban in the takeover.

Afghanistan's national resistance force commanders also claimed that Pakistani troops provided aid to the Taliban during the battle in the Panjshir Valley.

It is pertinent to note that the Taliban have invited Pakistan as a guest in the new government formation ceremony and the latter has also been vocally supportive in the bid to provide global recognition to the Taliban.
