New Delhi: Amid Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian actress Oksana Shvets has been killed in a rocket attack by Russian forces in the capital Kyiv, reported news agency ANI.

The incident happened when a rocket launched by Russia hit the building in which Oksana was residing.

The news of her demise was confirmed by Oksana's troupe, the Young Theater.

"During the rocket shelling of a residential building in Kyiv, a well-deserved artist of Ukraine Oksana Shvets was killed," read the statement released by the troupe.

Oksana was 67 and was decorated with Ukraine's highest artistic honors, the title of which roughly translates as 'Honored Artist of Ukraine', reported ANI.

The Kyiv Post, local news media, took to Twitter to report Oksana's death in the attack.

"The actress of the Young Theatre Oksana Shvets has been murdered in Kyiv during the war," read the post on Twitter with her image.

According to news agency Associated Press (AP), more than 3 million people have fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion on February 24. The exact death toll, however, remains unknown despite Ukraine claiming several being killed in the conflict.

Last week, Ukrainian singer and composer Pasha Lee was killed in an attack in Irpin.

On Thursday, Russian forces shelled a school and cultural centre near Kharkiv, which killed least 21 people and wounded 25.

Meanwhile, Russian troops have suffered heavy casualties as the offensive entered the fourth week today. The Russian invasion has been stalled on all fronts, said British military intelligence, as reported by India Today news website.
