Russia Closes Airspace For British Airlines In Retaliation To Aeroflot Flying Ban In UK
The move came in retaliation to Britain imposing ban on Russian flag carrier Aeroflot.
The Russian civil aviation regulator on Friday confirmed banning British airlines from landing at its airports or crossing its airspace.
The move came in retaliation to Britain imposing ban on Russian flag carrier Aeroflot. On Thursday the Russian army launched a military aggression in Ukraine after which Britain banned the Russian carrier in response to the invasion.
"A restriction was introduced on the use of Russian airspace for flights of aircrafts owned, leased or operated by an organisation linked to or registered in the UK," the Rosaviatsia aviation authority said in a statement, reported news media NDTV.
"The decision was taken as a response to unfriendly decisions of the UK aviation authorities," Rosaviatsia aviation was further quoted by NDTV.
The death toll in the Russia-Ukraine conflict is over 100 now including civilians and military personnel.
The Russain Defence Ministry claims to have destroyed 74 military infrastructure facilities across Ukraine including 11 aerodromes.
On the other hand, Ukraine said to have inflicted some 800 casualties on Russian forces since the military operations began on Thursday, reported news agency ANI.
The Ukrainian ministry also confirmed of destroying more than 30 Russian tanks, seven Russian aircrafts and six helicopters.
The Russian aggression in Ukraine has been condemned by leaders across the world. Many NATO countries have imposed sanctions against Russia in view of the military operations ordered by Putin against its neighbour.
Putin on Thursday announced 'military operation' in Ukraine to defend separatists in the eastern part of the country. "I have made the decision of a military operation," declared Putin in an address to the nation.
