Puerto Rico's 112-Yr-Old Emilio Flores Marquez Becomes World's Oldest Living Person

Emilio Flores Marquez, a 112-year-old living in Puerto Rico, was recognised by the Guinness World Record as the oldest living person.

Puerto Rico resident Emilio Flores Marquez, aged 112 years and 326 days, has now become the oldest living person in the world. Guinness World Records made the official announcement on Wednesday. Marquez was born in Carolina, east of the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan, in 1908.

After creating a Guinness World Record, Marquez said 'My dad raised me with love and taught me to love everyone. He always told me and my brothers and sisters to do good, to share everything with others. Besides, Christ lives in me."

Marquez, the second eldest of 11 siblings and his parents' first-born son, worked for his family in the sugarcane field and attended school for only 3 years. His wife of 75 years Andrea Perez De Flores, with whom he had 4 children, died in 2010.

After Dumitru's death, Marquez made the Guinness World Record

According to the information, Dumitru Comanescu of Romania had set a Guinness World Record as the oldest living person before Marquez, but on June 27, 2020, Dumitru died at the age of 111 years 219 days. Now, after the death of Comanescu, Marquez has made this new record.
