Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays tribute to soldiers at Seoul National Cemetery

The Seoul National Cemetery is situated on a plot of land measuring approximately 1,430,000㎡. Entombed are the remains of 1,65,000 martyrs and soldiers, police officers, and reserve forces who sacrificed themselves for their country.

Seoul: On the second day of his visit to South Korea, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to the martrys and soldiers at Seoul National Cemetery. On Friday, PM Modi was accorded ceremonial reception at Blue House (executive office and official residence of South Korean head of state) in Seoul. The Seoul National Cemetery is situated on a plot of land measuring approximately 1,430,000㎡. Entombed are the remains of 1,65,000 martyrs and soldiers, police officers, and reserve forces who sacrificed themselves for their country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday left for a two-day state visit to South Korea, during which the two countries will seek to boost ties in diverse areas, including trade and investment. Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi described it as an honour to unveil the bust of Bapu at Yonsei University. He said that the event holds great significance as we are doing so at a time when we mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bapu, the prime minister said. The thoughts and ideas of Bapu have the power to help us overcome the menace of terrorism and climate change, two challenges humanity faces in these times, said the prime minister. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Indian economy is based on sound fundamentals and will in the near future double in size to USD 5 trillion, as he hardsold the country as a "land of opportunities" to investors in South Korea.
