'Unite Eva Braun With Fuhrer': Condemnatory Petition Asking Switzerland To Expel Putin ‘Lover’ Gets Over 60K Signatures

The petition asks to carefully investigate the legal basis of which she is present in Switzerland and check the "cleanliness" of the funds with which she is living in the country.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, a petition to expel President Vladimir Putin's "lover", Alina Kabaeva from Switzerland has gained nearly 60 thousand signatures. According to the petition, the former gymnast is hiding is in a luxury villa along with her three children. 

The petitioners, from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in their post, questioned Switzerland why it would break neutrality which it hasn't done even during the Second World War. 

The 39-year-old is a former gymnast and former Olympic gold medallist who was known as ‘Russia’s most flexible woman’. According to several media reports, claim that she is Putin’s mistress and also the mother to his children although that has not been officially acknowledged. 

The change.org petition which has gained over 59 thousand signatures was headlined, “Despite the current war, Switzerland continues to host an accomplice of Putin’s regime. It’s time Switzerland take action and reunite Alina ‘Eva Braun’ Kabaeva with her ‘Fuhrer’.”

It further reads, “The public has just learned that the Russian political and media figure, and former athlete, Alina Kabaeva, is hiding the consequences of the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation in YOUR country.”

Kabaeva spent six years as a Member of Parliament representing Putin's United Russia Party. She has been serving as the chairperson of the board of directors at National Media Group, a major pro-Kremlin media group, for more than seven years. According to The Daily Mail, she has been receiving a salary of almost 8 million euros a year.

Alina Kabaeva is known to be very private but has been occasionally reported to have been seen with Putin. Kabaeva who won the Gold Medal in the 2004 summer Olympics leads a luxurious lifestyle and travels everywhere with private guards carrying guns. 

The petition called a "criminal against humanity" as "she was among the initiators of the draft law, which in Russia was called the “law of scoundrels” or “the law of Dima Yakovlev”. This shameful move deprived thousands of Russian orphans of the possibility of being adopted abroad. Consequently, many applications already open at the time for the adoption of seriously ill children were cancelled and applicants for qualified medical care simply died."
