Pakistan Polls: Will Help Mend Ties With India If Elected, Hindu Candidate Saveera Parkash Says
If elected, Dr. Saveera claimed she will work to tackle the difficulties of Hindus in Pakistan.
Dr. Saveera Parkash, the first Hindu candidate to run in the general election from the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province's Buner constituency, has stated that if elected, she will assist develop diplomatic bridges between Pakistan and India, news agency PTI reported. Saveera, a doctor by profession, filed her nomination papers with the Pakistan People's Party last week for the general seat of PK-25 in Buner district. Saveera, a candidate for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), said she has been given the title "daughter of Buner," and that the "Muslim brothers" have not only promised her of their votes, but also their full support, according to Geo News on Tuesday.
If elected, Dr. Saveera claimed she will work to tackle the difficulties of Hindus in Pakistan.
Saveera stated that she is a patriotic Hindu, and that gaining the title of 'Daughter of Buner' has boosted her spirit even more.
She stated that if elected to the provincial legislature, she will play a good role in ties between Islamabad and New Delhi, and that the Hindu population - both in Pakistan and across the border - will be free to approach her without trepidation, according to the station.
The political leader, who will run in one of the most important elections in the country's recent political history, characterised PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's May visit to Goa as a positive step towards improving Indo-Pak ties.
Saveera claims that because others support her, she has never felt isolated. She is gaining support not only from the PPP but also from other parties, indicating that she would receive votes from Muslim voters as well.
"I was proud to be a part of the Pashtun culture, but when I got the party ticket for the general elections and people, including my Muslim brothers, came to know about it, I received several congratulatory and encouraging messages," she said as her spirits "rose higher than the Himalayas" as a result of her amazement at getting massive support.
After winning the elections on February 8, her goals as a legislator will include boosting education and solving concerns like as health and pollution. She is particularly concerned about the scarcity of health-care facilities in her region, as well as a lack of healthcare education and awareness.
Saveera followed in the footsteps of her father, Dr. Om Parkash, who worked with a love for humanitarian service.
"Buner is a backward district where problems are aplenty and facilities are lacking," she was quoted by PTI reported.
During her home surgency, the young doctor understood she needed to do something new in order to solve the district's difficulties.
She earned her MBBS from Abbottabad International Medical College in 2022 and serves as the general secretary of the Buner PPP women's wing.
