Violence Rages In Iran

The violent protests have spread to over 80 cities nationwide since death of Amini after she got arrested for "unsuitable attire" by the morality police who enforce the Islamic republic's strict dress code.

“We will fight, we will die, we will take Iran back," chanted protesters in Tehran's Ekbatan neighbourhood, a video posted on Twitter showed.

More than 75 people have been killed in the Iranian authorities’ crackdown against unrest triggered by the death of Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini in morality police custody, a rights group said on Monday, reported new agency AFP.

More than 1,200 people have been arrested according to the officials.

Iran's President says 'chaos' would not be accepted

Meanwhile, the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday responded to the violent protests saying that the death of a young woman in custody had "saddened" everyone in the Islamic republic. However, he warned that "chaos" is unacceptable as violent protests spread across the nation, reported news agency Reuters.

"We all are saddened by this tragic incident … [however] chaos is unacceptable," Raisi said in an interview with state TV, as protests continued around the country.

"The government's red line is our people's security.… One cannot allow people to disturb the peace of society through riots."

Anti-government protests have gained strength over Amini’s death following her arrest for allegedly breaching the country’s strict rules on hijab headscarves and modest clothing. Protesters are demanding the end of the Islamic clerical establishment's four-decade rule.
