'Harassment For Personal Reasons Won’t Be Tolerated': Taliban Defence Minister Orders Forces To Respect Amnesty
Yaqoob said in an audio message on Thursday evening that no one is allowed to take revenge against anyone in Afghanistan following the amnesty announcement.
Kabul: Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, the Taliban’s new defence minister, has ordered all forces to respect the general amnesty that was announced by the leadership following the takeover of Kabul.
Yaqoob said in an audio message on Thursday evening that no one is allowed to take revenge against anyone in Afghanistan following the amnesty announcement.
He added that any Taliban member, who has any personal conflict, should take the case to a court and solve the problem there, TOLOnews reported.
The defence minister of the caretaker cabinet further said that he has heard reports that Taliban forces have killed the people with whom they had personal conflicts, adding such cases will not be tolerated.
The message follows the allegations by a number of families of former security personnel who say some that members of their families have been jailed by the Taliban forces.
Several families have complained that their members are still being detained by the forces and urged the Taliban that seized power in Afghanistan last month to free them.

The new commission, which has pledged to bring order and security to Kabul, will be chaired by Afghanistan’s Acting Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
