China Issues White Paper On Fighting Covid-19; Enlists 5 Stages Of Its Fight Against The Virus

New Delhi: As the worldwide cases of Coronavirus crossed 6.8 million, China, which was the epicenter of the outbreak of the contagion, issued a white paper on its battle with the disease outlining the detailed steps and measures it undertook to contain the transmission, international agencies reported. As per reports in  Chinese media, the White paper serves as a  demonstration to the world and as a rebuttal to the worldwide flak it faced. Taking a jibe at the global condemnation, it says China’s curb serves as a strong rebuke to foreign media and foreign leaders’ accusations of  "cover-up" and "delay" in its response. The White Paper called “Fighting Covid-19: China In Action” was released by the State Council Information Office Sunday was issued to record the Country’s struggle against the virus and to share with the international community its experience and above all to present a clean image of China after the accusations leveled on it due to the pandemic. It says China’s fight against the epidemic can be divided into five stages.
  1. Stage I: Swift Response to the Public Health Emergency (From December 27, 2019 to January 19, 2020)
  2. Stage II: Initial Progress in Containing the Virus (January 20-February 20, 2020)
  3. Stage III: Newly Confirmed Domestic Cases on the Chinese Mainland Drop to Single Digits (February 21-March 17, 2020)
  4. Stage IV: Wuhan and Hubei – An Initial Victory in a Critical Battle (March 18-April 28, 2020)
  5. Stage V: Ongoing Prevention and Control (Since April 29, 2020)
  “China firmly believes that as long as all countries unite and cooperate to mount a collective response, the international community will succeed in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic,” the White Paper stated. The world will "emerge from this dark moment in human history into a brighter future,"  it stated. It highlights that at the end of May a cumulative total of 83,017 confirmed cases had been reported on the Chinese mainland, 78,307 infected had been cured and discharged from hospital, and 4,634 people had died. This demonstrates a cure rate of 94.3 percent, said Xinhua. This comes at a time when a total of 6,800,604, people across the world have been infected by the novel coronavirus, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University. A total of 396,591 people worldwide have died of the disease, the data showed, Xinhua reported. Also Watch:
