District police chief Shahidul Islam said another Hindu man’s body was found near a pond next to the temple on Saturday morning, AFP reported.

“Two men have died since yesterday’s attack. We are working to find the culprits,” the top cop added.

A mob earlier on Friday allegedly attacked devotees at an ISKCON temple in Noakhali area and stabbed to death an executive member of the temple committee. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Partha Das.

The latest violence, according to police, took place in Begumganj when scores of Muslims formed a street procession after the prayers on Friday on the last day of Durga Puja.

Over 200 protestors attacked the Hindu temple where the community members were preparing to perform the last rites of the 10-day Durga Puja festival.

This took place following the protests, which began earlier on Wednesday, after footage emerged of a Quran being placed on the knee of a Hindu god during the Durga Puja celebrations.

The anti-Hindu protests gradually spread to several districts in the country after the Quran incident.
