Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour Top Segment Sales In February 2019

The Fortuner continues to dominate the full-size SUV segment with the Endeavour on the second spot

The full-size SUV segment has long been ruled by just a couple of cars and that stays the same this time as well. It’s the Toyota Fortuner that topped February sales, followed by the Ford Endeavour which managed just close to half the former’s sales numbers. Mahindra’s first attempt at this space, the Alturas G4 also clocked decent numbers, but stayed behind these two SUVs. Here are the February sales numbers for a better picture. Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour Top Segment Sales In February 2019 Key Takeaways Fortuner takes top spot: This doesn’t come as a surprise as the Fortuner has enjoyed high sales numbers for years now and still commands a major chunk of the market share. However, the availability of newer options have managed to dent its share from 65 per cent in 2018 to 53 per cent in 2019. Sales of the Fortuner increased by 5 per cent in February in comparison to January and it’s likely to be on the rise in the months to come. Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour Top Segment Sales In February 2019 Endeavour takes second place: The big Ford managed to clock a respectable sales of 848 units and received a facelift in the final days of February. The Endeavour has been at the second spot for long and retains that this time around too with 26 per cent of the market share, around half of the Fortuner. Following the Toyota’s footsteps, the Endeavour also clocked sales almost double the next SUV, the Alturas G4. Mahindra Alturas G4 finishes on the podium: Mahindra’s first go at the premium SUV territory, the Alturas G4 has become quite popular. It takes the third spot, but lags quite far behind the two leaders. The Alturas G4 was launched late in 2018 but has registered a respectable 33 per cent growth from January to February. That reflects in the sales numbers as well since the subtle looking monocoque offerings like the Skoda Kodiaq and the Honda CR-V finish at the bottom end of the list. But the Kodiaq, despite commanding the highest price tag has clocked around 150 units per month on an average. The Honda CR-V witnessed the sharpest fall in February after being lapped up by 122 customers in January. More than half of its market share fell within a month but it currently has higher market share than it had in 2018. This story has been sourced and contributed by CarDekho.com
