Taj All Set To Welcome US President Trump on Feb 24, Yogi To Review Arrangements

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be visiting Agra today to take stock of arrangements for the visit of US President.

Agra: The city of Taj Mahal, Agra has geared up to welcome President of United States Donald Trump who is set to visit India on the 24th or 25th of February. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be visiting Agra today to take stock of arrangements for the visit of US President. However, the dry and polluted river Yamuna at the rear of the Taj Mahal is the biggest concern for the Uttar Pradesh administration engaged in organising a grand welcome to US President, his wife Melania and delegation members who will arrive at the Kheria airport later this month, and will remain in city for around 2 hours. According to the government spokesman, the chief minister will be inspecting route from Kheria airbase to Taj Mahal and will also hold a high-level meeting of officials. A team from the US embassy is also scheduled to visit Agra to work out the modalities of Trump's visit. Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation is getting the walls around the Taj Mahal painted while machines have been engaged to clean up the roads leading to the Taj Mahal. Artists have also been engaged in making the wall look beautiful with wall paintings. Over 5,000 policemen will remain on duty during the VVIP visit. Besides, 200 officials of several intelligence agencies will also remain on duty. Verification of people living in houses and working in shops and showrooms has been initiated. Hotel owners have been asked to share details of all the guests on a daily basis from February 18 onwards. The police have identified 400 possible troublemakers who had protested against the US on different occasions. Recently, some of them had protested against US attack on Iraq and killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. Local intelligence unit is keeping a close watch on the activities of these people and some of them may be put under preventive detention, ahead of the UP President's visit. Drone cameras will also be used to monitor public activities in localities situated along the route. (with inputs from agencies)
