Russia-Ukraine War: Ukrainian Journalist Maks Levin Found Dead Near Kyiv, Says Presidential Aide

Maks Levin, born 1981, was a documentary filmmaker who contributed to Reuters' Leine coverage since 2013. He was working in Huta Mezhihirska village.

New Delhi: Another journalist, Maks Levin, who worked for a Ukrainian news website and was also a longtime contributor to Reuters, has been killed while covering Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Saturday, as reported by news agency AFP.

"Ukrainian photographer and documentary maker Maks Levin has been found dead near the capital Kyiv after going missing more than two weeks ago, presidential aide Andriy Yermak said on Saturday," said AFP in Tweet.

"Maks Levin went missing in the conflict area on March 13 in the Kyiv region. His body was found near the village of Guta Mezhygirska on April 1," Ukrainian presidential aide Andriy Yermak said on Telegram.

The prosecutor general's office in Ukraine said Levin was "killed by servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces with two shots from small arms". This could not be independently verified.

John Pullman, Reuters' global managing editor for visuals, said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Maksim Levin, a long-time contributor to Reuters, in Ukraine."

"Maks has provided compelling photos and video from Ukraine to Reuters since 2013. His death is a huge loss to the world of journalism. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."

Levin, born 1981, was a documentary filmmaker who contributed to Reuters' Leine coverage since 2013. He was working in Huta Mezhihirska village. 

Today, the war between the two nations has enetered its 38th day and still both the coountries are not ready to end war. On the one hand, Russia is firing on Kyiv even after promising not to attack there, for the first time Ukraine has also carried out an airstrike in the Russian border. The Russian governor claimed that Ukraine attacked the oil depot. However, this has been denied by Ukraine.
