China Providing Political Support To Russia With 'Blatant Lies': NATO Chief

Russia-Ukraine War: While speaking on the eve of the NATO summit in Brussels, Stoltenberg said China could provide "material support" for Russia.

New Delhi: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) chief Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday expressed his concern over China's political support to Russia amid the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"China has provided Russia with political support, including by spreading blatant lies and misinformation," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg told a news conference as reported by the news agency Reuters.

While speaking on the eve of the NATO summit in Brussels, Stoltenberg said China could provide "material support" for Russia.

"I expect NATO to call on China to live up to its responsibilities."

"For NATO, it is of particular concern that China now, for the first time, has questioned some of the key principles for security, including the right for every nation in Europe to choose his own path," he said.

He added that when NATO leaders meet on Thursday he expects them to "call on China to condemn the invasion and to engage in diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful way to end the war as soon as possible."

The war between the soldiers of Russia and Ukraine continues for the 28th day. Russia's army has not yet captured the capital Kyiv. Meanwhile, according to the reports, the Russian army is now preparing for the final attack on Kyiv.

Russia has once again threatened a nuclear attack in the midst of intensifying war with Ukraine. Russia, bummed by its failure to capture the capital Kyiv for so long, has said a nuclear attack could be considered if it were facing an "existential threat," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during an interaction with CNN International on Tuesday (March 22).

Peskov said as quoted by the media outlet, "We have a concept of domestic security, and it's public. You can read all the reasons for nuclear arms to be used. So if it is an existential threat for our country, then it can be used in accordance with our concept."
