Rajasthan: Youth Beheaded For Post Supporting Nupur Sharma, Tension In Udaipur

New Delhi: A man who supported BJP's ex-spokesperson Nupur Sharma was beheaded by two men in Udaipur's Maldas street on Tuesday. A video has also surfaced on social media in which two men are seen accepting their atrocities with swords. Tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur made a post in support of Nupur Sharma 10 days ago. Meanwhile, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said, "I condemn the heinous murder of a youth in Udaipur. Strict action will be taken against the criminals involved in this incident. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace and not share the video of the act."

The police arrested both the two accused in the Bheem area of Rajsamand district on Tuesday night. The accused were caught while they were trying to flee, said CM in his Tweet. A curfew has been imposed in 7 police station areas of Udaipur from 8 pm, said the collector.

"Both the accused of the murder of a man in Udaipur arrested from Rajsamand. The investigation, in this case, will be done under the Case Officer Scheme and by ensuring speedy investigation the criminals will be punished severely in the court," Gehlot said.

Udaipur SP, while talking about the incident, said, "A heinous murder has been committed and a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident. Few accused have been identified. Police teams constituted to locate the accused. We will take action on the video of men claiming to have committed the act."

In the viral video, one of the two accused could be heard saying, "I will make the video viral when I accomplish my goal to teach a lesson to the accused who has shown disrespect to our God."

Governor Kalraj Mishra has also reacted to the incident and appealed to the public to maintain peace & communal harmony.

The incident took place near Bhoot Mahal in Maldas Street, Udaipur. After this, an atmosphere of tension has arisen in the city as people have closed the markets and are protesting at Dehligate near the collectorate. Police said that they are probing every aspect. The internet services in the Udaipur have been suspended for 24 hrs. 

After this incident, the police of all the districts in Uttar Pradesh have been asked to be on alert.
