Watchman In Tamil Nadu Donates One Month Salary Of Rs 10,101 To CM Covid Relief Fund

After getting to know about the watchman's heroics, the CM MK Stalin met Thangadurai to appreciate his support and gifted him a copy of M Karunanidhi's book "Thirukural"

Chennai: A 59-year-old night watchman, Thangadurai, from Chennai, donated his one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) to assist the state government in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thangadurai donated ₹10,101 to the chief minister's relief fund. He also believes that his contribution will benefit more people in need than his own struggle to make ends meet.

After getting to know about the watchman's heroics, the CM MK Stalin met Thangadurai to appreciate his support and gifted him a copy of M Karunanidhi's book "Thirukural".

Taking to Twitter, MK Stalin wrote, “Thangadurai, a night watchman who couldn't meet me at first, had donated a month's salary to the CM's relief fund. After learning about this, I requested a meeting with him. And I gave him a book called Thirukural by Kalaignar.”

Flocked by media after meeting the CM, Thangadurai said that he surprised with the warm welcome of the new CM and gave a gist of his conversation with Stalin: “When I met the CM, he asked where I was from. CM thanked me and handed me a book after learning that I was donating my one-month salary,” said Thangadurai.

Thangadurai further requested people to “wear a mask and break the chain” of the Covid-19.
