Mumbai Police Arrests RTI Activist For 'Derogatory Remarks' Against PM Modi, Amit Shah
As per an official at Mumbai's Sakinanaka Police Station, the accused made alleged "derogatory" remarks against the Prime Minister and other leaders in a Facebook post.
A Right to Information activist was arrested by Mumbai Police for his alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, and BJP leader Kirit Somaiya among others, said the police on Saturday. The accused identified as Ghulam Qazi is an RTI activist, said the police, as per a report by news agency ANI. "We have registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 509, 500, 506 (2) and 504 against the accused and taken him into custody," police said.
As per an official at Mumbai's Sakinanaka Police Station, the accused made alleged "derogatory" remarks against the Prime Minister and other leaders in a Facebook post.
"The accused allegedly threatened them," police added.
