Maruti Ciaz Outsells Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna, Honda City In May 2018
Despite being the oldest car in its segment, the Maruti has managed to leave its feature-loaded counterparts behind
The Maruti Ciaz will be receiving a facelift this August, 2018, almost four years after its launch in India. So, you’d naturally expect a sedan that has remained unchanged for this long in a cut-throat C-segment to get left behind when it comes to sales numbers. However, that’s not the case with the Ciaz, which has managed to edge past the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the petrol-only Toyota Yaris on the May, 2018 sales chart.

With just over 4,000 units sold in the month of May 2018, the Ciaz has also managed to take the 24th spot in the list of 25 best-selling cars in India, which include the likes of other Maruti cars such as the Alto, Dzire, Baleno, Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross. The Ciaz facelift, which is set to be launched soon, won’t see major updates as far as its exterior and interior design is concerned. Recent spy shots reveal that the front-end design will be sharper while the interior will see a light-brown shade wooden trim instead of the dark brown on offer now. The diesel-powered Ciaz is expected to continue with the existing 1.3-litre engine paired with SHVS mild-hybrid tech. However, Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce a new petrol engine with the Ciaz facelift and it will be paired with SHVS technology this time around. The new petrol engine is expected to be the 1.5-litre petrol engine that debuted on the Indonesia-spec second-gen Ertiga. Related: 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift Spied Undisguised
