Mahindra inaugurates new spare parts warehouse in Jaipur

New Delhi: Home-grown carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd announced the inauguration of its new spare parts warehouse at Mahindra World City (MWC), Jaipur on Monday. Being the first such facility for the manufacturer in northern India, it will cater to the requirement of customers in the north and north-western regions of the country for both automotive and tractor spare parts, informed a press release. The campus is spread across a sprawling 11 acres of land with another five acres reserved for future expansion. The processing time for the availability of spare parts and distance-to-market is expected to go down to four days, which is significant improvement over the earlier time of 10 days. The company will procure spare parts from over 1,000 vendors and 9 plants for this new facility, it informed. With an investment of Rs 150 crore, the warehouse will generate employment for over 450 direct and indirect employees, according to the manufacturer. This Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) is one of the first such facilities to implement SAP – EWM for lean processes ensuring simpler, faster, more accurate and efficient warehousing. “With a significant investment and employment generation, we are highly invested in the state of Rajasthan. I am sure this will also provide an impetus to the industrial growth of the region,” said chief purchase officer (Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Hemant Sikka. “The warehouse in MWC Jaipur is part of our expansion strategy and going forward we will create a network of spare parts warehouses in West Bengal, Kanhe and the southern states,” he added. The Jaipur warehouse will be the fourth such facility for Mahindra in India. The other three, forming the quartet, include the one in Kanhe for automotive parts, in Bhiwandi for Tractor parts and in Hyderabad for commercial vehicle parts. Source: cardekho.com
