Karnataka: Unknown Miscreants Vandalise Idols Of Hindu Deities In Hassan District

The incident took place at an exhibition center on Tirupati hills, which is located two kilometers from the town of Arsikere.

New Delhi: A group of unidentified people on Tuesday vandalised idols of Hindu deities in an under-construction museum in Karnataka's Hassan district. According to reports, the incident took place at an exhibition center on Tirupati hills, which is located two kilometers from the town of Arsikere, as reported by news agency PTI. The place where the incident took place is also called Mini Tirupati which is a 300-year-old. According to the report, the idols of the deities were to be taken for the exhibition but four of these idols have been damaged. 

According to the police, some miscreants came to the temple on Monday and took a bath in the holy water of Kalyani. Those people were smoking. When they were stopped, they started threatening and pushing the workers working on the idol away. 

After this these people went to the Exhibition Center and vandalized the idols. These sculptures were in the process of making. It was to be established in a few days.

Seeing the sensitivity of the matter, the district police immediately came to the spot and tried to find the clues of the miscreants along with the dog squad team. It is believed that the dog squad team has got important clues about the miscreants. Efforts are on to nab the miscreants on this basis, according to the police.

District Superintendent of Police, Srinivas Gowda, said that the idols were kept in a private museum that does not belong to the temple.

"The idol donors wanted to create a museum kind of structure with artefacts. The Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols were placed near the temple. An association was formed and [idols] were placed nearby the temple in a museum that is under construction," he said.

In Karnataka, for the last few months, there has been a situation of tension in one or the other part over many issues.
