Youth Akali Dal Leader Vicky Middukhera Shot Dead By Unidentified People In Mohali

As per the early inputs, four unknown armed men opened fire at the Youth Akali Dal leader while he was on his way to Mohali, killing him on the spot.

Mohali: In a highly shocking incident, Vicky Middukhera, the former president of the Students Organisation of India (SOI), was reportedly shot dead in broad daylight by unidentified individuals on Saturday at Sector 71 in Mohali area of Punjab.

News agency confirmed the incident saying "Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera shot dead by unidentified people in Mohali. Details awaited."

As per the early inputs, four unknown armed men opened fire at the Youth Akali Dal leader while he was on his way to Mohali, killing him on the spot.

Upon learning the tragic incident, police officials rushed to the site. Middukhera was soon taken to the hospital.

Satinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohali said, "4 assailants chased Vicky Middukhera down and fired about 8-9 rounds, killing him on the spot. Investigation is underway." 

Meanwhile, Police probing the case said that empty shells have been recovered from the spot. The investigating team is scanning the CCTV footage from the area and making full efforts to trace the culprits.

Student leader Middukhera was actively involved in students’ politics and was once president of Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU), Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was considered instrumental in making SOI - the student wing of Shiromani Akali Dal. Later he was appointed as president of SOI's Chandigarh unit by SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.

He had a mass appeal among the youth and actively campaigned for the SAD in the Assembly as well as parliamentary elections in Punjab.
