Woman Advocate Assaulted For Reporting Cattle Transport And Smuggling In Tripura
On her way to Agartala High Court, Shreya Aggarwal spotted 2 vehicles overloaded with cattle. She immediately reported the matter to Bishalgarh Police Station.
Kolkata: Advocate Shreya Agarwal was attacked by an unruly mob infront of police and her car was vandalised because she allegedly reported a case of animal cruelty to the police and called the police to Bishalgarh Masjid in Routhkhola where the attack happened.
On her way to Agartala High Court, Shreya Aggarwal spotted 2 vehicles (TR 07A 1626; TR 01Z 1816) overloaded with cattle. She immediately called the police and then went to the Bishalgarh PS urging the cops to accompany her to the spot in Routhkhola where the vehicles were parked. The cattle from the vehicle were unloaded inside a house.
Police came to the spot, but it made no difference to the goons residing here. They gathered a mob of 100-120 people who started hurling abuses and intimidating the complainant. They harassed and assaulted the lady lawyer in front of police. Her car was badly vandalised. The complainants somehow managed to save themselves and ran away from the spot as the mob got extremely violent inspite of police presence.
This is not an agricultural farm, it’s a hoarding ground for international smuggling to Bangladesh as Routhkhola is just 10-12kms from the Indo-Bangladesh border from where cattle are smuggled into Bangladesh.
An FIR 62/2021 has been lodged at the Bishalagarh Police Station under charges of Rioting, unlawful assembly, assault, criminal intimidation, negligent behaviour which can lead to spread of infectious disease (Covid-19), outraging the modesty of a woman.
