'Will Hang Myself Even If...': WFI Chief Brij Bhushan On Charges Levelled Against Him By Wrestlers

Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said that he will hang himself even if a single allegation against him is proven to be true.

Wrestling Federation of India chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Sunday said that he will hang himself even if a single allegation against him is proven to be true. This comes as wrestlers continue their agitation demanding Singh's arrest and sacking from the post of top wrestling body in India. Talking to PTI, the BJP MP said, "I will hang myself even if a single allegation against me is proved."

Singh, facing allegations of sexual harassment from some of India's best wrestlers, had earlier said that he would resign as President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) if his party asked him to. Indian grapplers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for over 10 days.

Earlier this month, the WFI president said he didn't know the minor girl who had levelled sexual harassment allegations against him. He also said that the minor girl didn't even testify before the oversight committee formed to investigate the matter. "I had submitted an audio clip to the committee, in which Bajrang Punia was asking a person to arrange a girl. And now after three months they arranged it and came up with a fresh allegation," Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said.

This comes as the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday announced holding a nationwide protest including in Delhi in support of the protesting wrestlers. Post the announcement, security has been beefed up in the national capital on Sunday, reported ANI.

According to an SKM statement, several leaders of the organisation from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will visit the protest site at Jantar Mantar and extend support to the protesting wrestlers, as quoted by ANI.

Meanwhile, members of Kirti Kisan Union have joined the wrestlers' protest at Jantar Mantar.
