WFI Chief Touched Inappropriately During Training & Tournaments, Two Wrestlers Tell Police: Report

Both complainants revealed how the WFI chief reportedly groped their breasts and stomach improperly and sexually while claiming to assess their breathing patterns.

Several cases of sexual harassment and misbehaviour, including groping, unwanted touching, and physical contact, have occurred during tournaments, warm-ups, and even inside the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) office in New Delhi. These have been documented in accusations submitted by two of the seven adult female wrestlers against the federation's president, BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Indian Express reported. 

According to The Indian Express, the complaints, filed on April 21 at the Connaught Place police station in New Delhi, outline at least eight separate incidents.

Two of the seven female wrestlers have come out and registered cases against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan.

There were eight reports of sexual harassment, which occurred in a restaurant, an office, a competition, and a warm-up. The names of the two wrestlers have not been revealed, according to the article.

One of the two wrestlers said the WFI head tried to grope her and improperly touch her on two consecutive occasions when she was called to the office. While he stroked her legs and shoulder on the first day, Brij Bhushan touched her breast and stomach on her second visit two days later, stating he needed to examine her breathing pattern, according to the report.

It went on to say that the second wrestler described how she had experienced identical scenarios as the first wrestler. In her complaint to Delhi Police, she claimed that Brij Bhushan raised her training jersey without her consent and proceeded to touch her breast and stomach under the guise of monitoring her breathing pattern in 2018.
