West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 Phase 6 Polling HIGHLIGHTS: In this phase, elections are being conducted in nine constituencies each in North Dinajpur and Nadia districts, 17 in North 24 Parganas and eight in East Bardhaman where 10,409,948 electorates will decide the fate of 306 candidates among which 27 candidates are female.
As per the latest updates, 79.09% voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm in the sixth phase of the West Bengal election today.
According to the data on the Voter Turnout app, the polling percentage was as follows in the four districts which have undergone polls in the sixth phase of West Bengal Assembly election:
Nadia: 74%
North 24 Parganas: 70.57%
Purba Bardhaman: 76.36%
Uttar Dinajpur: 72.10%

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a rally a West Benjapur and said, "I am not a player, but I know how to play. I was the best player in the Lok Sabha earlier. We cannot surrender our Bengal to two goons of Delhi."
Long queues were seen outside most of the polling booths with security personnel asking everyone to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, amid the surge in infections everywhere, the official said.

According to the approximate two-hours data released by the Election Commission, it shows that the state recorded a polling percentage of 17.19 - a relatively high voter turnout considering the other phases of the election. Among the districts, East Burdwan recorded the highest turnout of 18.93 per cent closely followed by North Dinajpur that recorded a polling percentage of 18.84 per cent. North 24 Parganas recorded the lowest voter turnout of 14.84 and Nadia district recorded a voter turnout of 18.20 percent.
Polling in the sixth phase of 43 constituencies across four districts of West Bengal is underway. 17.19 per cent polling was recorded in the first two hours. Two districts namely East Burdwan and North Dinajpur recorded more than 18 per cent in the first couple of hours, highest in the first two hours in polls conducted so far.
The 43 seats polling today had hugely contributed to the jump in the BJP's vote share in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. From 10 per cent in the 2016 assembly polls, the BJP had cornered 41 per cent votes in 2019. The Trinamool Congress won 32 of 43 seats In 2016. In 2019, it led in 24 segments only, while the BJP, which did not win a single seat in 2016, led in 19 segments.
The Election Commission has tied up with Uber to provide free of cost ferrying to 80 plus and PWD voters to the polling booths to facilitate their voting in all the 17 Assembly constituencies in North 24 Parganas. The Election Commission has deployed 26 general observers, 13 expenditure observers and 13 police observers for the 5th phase of polls. There will be webcasting facilities in 7,466 polling booths and micro-observers will be deployed in 20 per cent of the booths.
BJP candidate from Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, Krishna Kalyani cast his vote at booth number 134. He says, "Voting began a little late. It's a festival of democracy & everyone is participating. You can see the queues, it shows that this time voting will be for change, development."

The fate of several heavyweight candidates will be decided in this phase -- three ministers, three film star, several TMC turncoat and Mukul Roy, the first Trinamool leader to join the BJP.
The 6th phase of Bengal elections are being conducted under the dark clouds of Covid 19 as in a first, Bengal has crossed the 10,000-mark, logging 10,748 fresh cases.
Concerns about Covid have not put a stop to campaigning. Union minister Amit Shah will attend three poll meetings today, Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has four road shows and the BJP's Suvendu Adhikari is holding three roadshows in Kolkata, which has been hit worst by the pandemic.
