Jammu and Kashmir News: Four soldiers died after an Army vehicle fell into a deep gorge near the Wular Viewpoint in the Bandipora district on Saturday, officials said. According to officials, the Army vehicle skidded off the road and plummeted into a gorge near SK Payen in the northern part of the district. As per the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, the incident happened due to inclement weather and poor visibility conditions.
In a post, the Chinar Corps informed, "Bandipora Accident 04 Jan 25 One more braveheart succumbed to the injuries sustained during the unfortunate accident, while being evacuated."
In a prior post on X, Chinar Corps, Indian Army had informed, "On 04 Jan 24, while performing duty in Bandipora District, a vehicle of Indian Army skid and fell into the gorge due to inclement weather and poor visibility conditions. Tragically three bravehearts lost their lives in the unfortunate accident. Indian Army extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families."
Bandipora Army Vehicle Accident: Jammu And Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha Expresses Condolences
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, also expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the tragic road accident. In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed the nation’s profound gratitude for the service and commitment of the Indian Army personnel.
"Deeply grieved by the loss of lives of Indian Army personnel due to a tragic road accident in Bandipora. The nation is deeply grateful for their service and commitment. My condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured," the Lieutenant Governor stated, as quoted by news agency PTI.
Previously, Dr Masarat Iqbal Wani, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora had told ANI that five injured were brought to the hospital, out of which two were brought dead, three injured who were in critical condition were referred to Srinagar for further treatment.
